Bonita Diggs Metropolitan Funeral

Bonita Diggs, affectionately known as Bonnie, was surrounded by loved ones when she departed this life into eternal rest on August 7, 2021.  She was a doting mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  Her memory will forever be cherished by many.

Bonnie attended Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Virginia and worked many years as a custodial engineer.  She was the youngest of seven children born to the late Samuel and Blanche Diggs. She gave birth to her one and only child whom her brother Raymond convinced her to name Otis, after the late singer and songwriter Otis Redding. She enjoyed watching classic television shows, particularly Westerns and drinking a nice cold Red Rock Ginger Ale. From time to time, she shared inspirational and motivational messages on Facebook, and she learned how to post selfies that showed off her big, beautiful smile. She was a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where her brother Rev. Raymond Diggs is the pastor, and she sang in the choir. Most importantly, she loved the Lord.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother Blanche Diggs, her father Samuel Diggs, her sister Helen Cox and her brother Jimmy “JB” Diggs.

She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: her son, Otis Diggs (Arvetta) of Hampton, GA; three grandchildren, Dominique Diggs of Goldsboro, NC, Erique Diggs of Newport News, VA and Oriana Diggs of Norfolk, VA; one great-grandchild, Bryce Diggs of Goldsboro, NC; two sisters Rosa Williamson of Tulsa, OK and Earlene Lewis of Pittsburgh, CA; two brothers Fred Diggs of Monroe, LA and Raymond Diggs (Brenda) of Norfolk, VA; local nieces and nephews, Rita Diggs Saunders (Coolidge) of Virginia Beach, VA, Rayette Diggs of Suffolk, VA, Crystal Diggs Johnson (Rodney) of Suffolk, VA, Keishara Diggs of Norfolk, VA, Reginald Diggs (Tanya) of Virginia Beach, VA and Edward Diggs of Chesapeake, VA; bonus son LaMique Smith of Norfolk, VA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins across the country, friends and special sister friends Catherine Curtis and Lois Daniels who will all miss her tremendously.
