"It Will Be Very Different"
The news of a Riverdale spin-off was revealed during the TCA Summer Press Tour on Monday, August 6th.
Roberto teased that the writers and producers were in the process of creating a “very different” sister show to the successful teen drama we currently have.
“We’re still early on in the process and it will be very different from Riverdale.”
Nothing else was revealed about the spin-off, however, fans have already put forward what they would like it to involve:

Now, if you’re already sitting here thinking “but isn’t the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Riverdale spin-off?”, the answer is officially no. Which also means, a Riverdale/Sabrina crossover is not in the works. Showrunners have confirmed this week that the two shows have nothing to do with each other and there is “no connection between the two shows at all”.
Riverdale’s showrunner, Roberto, confirmed the unlikely crossover also on Monday stating, “I think right now we’re just making sure that the shows have their own identities and own set of rules.”
There’s no need to worry about who or what is going to be the main focus of the spin-off series for a while, as producers have said that they are looking for a 2019/2020 slot on The CW.
