Meet Edward Lawrence, Fox Reporter Lauded by President Trump, Career and Net Worth
Not to be confused with another Edward Lawrence, a BBC Camera Journalist based in China. Or any other who is not a Fox Business reporter.
Not many are applauded for reporting their news by President Donald Trump, but you might have a chance if you work for FOX. Fox Business reporter Edward Lawrence was lauded by President Trump after his report on the job statistics in the United States.
CNBC originally reported that the unemployment rate dropped to 13.3% in May from 14.7% in April, according to a recent statistics report by BLS. But a New York Times report also says there was over 22 million rise in jobs within the last decade, almost all of which completely dropped due to the layoffs in March and April because of the rise of the CoronaVirus pandemic lockdown (also vaguely shown in a graph in the CNBC report). The rise of 2.5 million jobs in May doesn't still make the unemployment rate any less bad than all the previous postwar recessions.
On Friday morning, Lawrence reported the 13.3% unemployment drop with 2.5 million jobs reimbursed thing, and President Trump took notice of his reported and lauded him for "an AMAZING JOBS REPORT!" on Twitter. Aside from all the backlashes the President's tweet, Lawrence's had quite an amazing career for over two decades before joining Fox Business in 2018.
Who Is Edward Lawrence?
Edward Lawrence is an Emmy-winning journalist who joined Fox Business Network (FBN) as a general assignment reporter in April 2018 and now covers economic & political breaking news based out of FBN’s Washington, DC bureau. He won that Emmy in 2015, but he's been in the industry for two decades before that, with his first award coming in 1996.

For FBN, he's had the opportunity to interview major industry titans in the business & economic sectors. For example, the General Motors CEO, Mary Barra, during their astounding employee layoffs in 2018. The interview list also includes Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Robert Kaplan and Federal Reserve’s Vice Chairman Richard Clarida.
Lawrence Worked His Way Up the Ladder from Local News Stations Across the Country
Lawrence is a University of Maryland graduate who got his start from WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. As a reporter, he continued to work for multiple stations across the country: WFTS-TV, the ABC affiliate in Tampa, Florida, and KCBS-TV & KCAL-TV, the CBS stations in Los Angeles, reporting from the Orange County & Inland Empire areas. Additionally, he's worked for CBS stations in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Las Vegas, Nevada, as a reporter/fill-in anchor.
While there, he's reported for some historical events in those cities, like the murder trial of former NFL player Rae Carruth, racing death of Charlotte Hornets’ Bobby Phills in NC for WBTV, the conviction of former football star OJ Simpson and the 100-year flooding of Las Vegas for KLAS.
The journey for him started from local news station as well.

Before working for Fox, he worked as a freelance correspondent at the network level. Those include breaking news stories for major networks like CBS News, NBC News, MSNBC, and Global News Canada. Aside from within every local CBS News station in the country, other segments include CBS Evening News and CBS This Morning. His MSNBC could be witnessed in First Look, Early Today Show, and CNBC.
During the New Year’s Eve of 2013, CBS appointed Lawrence to handle the live shots for their stations around the country, from the Times Square, NY. His news coverage included The West, TX fertilizer plant explosion, Oklahoma’s EF5 tornadoes, and the arrests of the Boston bombing suspects.
With Multiple Awards, He's Authored a Book As Well
Edward Lawrence's first award came in 1996 from Associated Press, which he won three more times in 1999, 2001 and 2015 in the categories Breaking News, Continuing Coverage, Best News Series, Best Spot News Story, Best Reporter and Best Anchor. Aside from the Emmy for a Campaign Story in Category Live Special Events in 2015, he's also received four other nominations for Best Reporter. He's got two less-spoken Electronic Media Awards as well.
That's a lot of awards.

Trump's Tweet Is Getting Backlashes After Backlashes
The economy gained 2.5 million jobs. The unemployment rate dropped to 13.3%. This was a shock as everyone thought there would be a peek of unemployment in this report. #Jobs #Economy

Aside from a positive comment from a Sex Counselor & Psychologist, Dr. Dawn Michael, who's kind of endorsed by Trump on Twitter many times, almost all the replies to President Trump's tweet about how great Lawrence's reporting are reminding him that the unemployment drop is surprising but not good enough, not only in that area either.
Tell us AGAIN @realDonaldTrump what "A SPECTACULAR JOB" you're doing:
90+ DAYS WASTED
42.6 MILLION UNEMPLOYED / 13.3%
109,396 DEAD (6/4/20)
39 X DEAD of 9/11

DEMOCRACY Gutted
International DISGRACE
